Dog which ran away after its owner was killed at the Dublin mountains has been found dead

Fia had been missing since Michael McCoy lost his life last month.

THE BODY OF the dog Fia which disappeared after the death of her owner has been found.

A national campaign was launched after the death of Michael McCoy at the Dublin mountains on 30 September to find the animal.

Search teams combed the area for weeks looking for the pet.

Sadly, her body was discovered yesterday.

A statement on the Find Fia Facebook page read: “We are devastated to tell you that Fia’s body was found this morning.

Thank you all so much for volunteering, searching and sharing over the last few weeks. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

The only man arrested in relation to McCoy’s death was released without charge last month.

The 41-year-old was held by gardaí a day after after the body of McCoy was discovered at Ballinascorney Hill, Brittas in Dublin

McCoy’s niece, Kirsten McCoy, has urged anyone with any information to get in touch with gardaí if they have any information and also told of her shock at the death of her uncle.
